About Dr. Shah

Dr. Tara Shah, DACM, LAc

Dr. Tara Shah is a Licensed Acupuncturist and the founder of Tara Acupuncture & Wellness, Inc. She is licensed in the state of California and nationally certified by the National Certification Board for Acupuncture and Herbal Medicine (NCBAHM).

Born and raised on Long Island, New York, Dr. Shah earned her Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry from Columbia University and spent five years working in the pharmaceutical industry before following her calling in holistic care. In 2017, she relocated to San Diego to attend Pacific College of Health and Science, where she completed over 3,500 hours of theoretical and clinical training, earning both a Master of Science in Traditional Oriental Medicine and a Doctorate in Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine.

Dr. Shah is trained in a wide range of traditional East Asian and modern therapeutic modalities, including acupuncture, electroacupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine and nutrition, moxibustion, cupping, gua sha, tui na therapeutic massage, microneedling and nanoneedling. She specializes in Japanese Meridian Therapy, a gentle and precise approach that uses subtle techniques to help restore balance, regulate the nervous system and support the body’s natural ability to heal.

Her care is patient-centered and collaborative, with an emphasis on creating a calm, supportive environment where individuals feel heard, respected and at ease. Dr. Shah takes time to listen carefully and works with each patient at a pace that feels comfortable, supporting long-term health, resilience and overall well-being.

Outside of the office, Dr. Shah maintains a daily meditation practice and enjoys doing puzzles and spending quality time with her husband and dog.
