About Dr. Shah

Dr. Tara Shah, DACM, LAc
Dr. Shah is a Licensed Acupuncturist and the founder of Tara Acupuncture & Wellness, Inc. She is licensed in the state of California and nationally certified by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM). Born and raised on Long Island, New York, Dr. Shah earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Chemistry from Columbia University and worked in the pharmaceutical industry for five years before deciding to pursue her interest in holistic care. In 2017, she moved to San Diego to attend Pacific College of Health and Science, where she received her Master of Science in Traditional Oriental Medicine and Doctor of Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine degrees after completing over 3500 hours of theoretical and clinical training. Dr. Shah has training in a variety of traditional East Asian and modern treatment modalities, including acupuncture, electroacupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine and nutrition, moxibustion, cupping, gua sha, tui na therapeutic massage, microneedling and nanoneedling. Dr. Shah specializes in Japanese meridian therapy, which employs very gentle needling techniques to help bring the body back into balance such that it can heal itself. She is passionate about the importance of treating both body and mind and is dedicated to supporting each patient on their journey to overall health and wellness in order to live their best life! Outside of the office, you can find Dr. Shah hiking, traveling, cooking, doing puzzles and spending time with her husband and dog.
